My Approach
My practice is driven by fascination and love for the process of psychotherapy. My approach is psychodynamic, relational, collaborative, and trauma informed. I hold that we do not exist in a vacuum - that since conception, we have been profoundly shaped by the familial, social, cultural, political, religious, and economic dynamics of our environment. My work is depth oriented, aiming to treat your symptoms at their root, giving way to long lasting psychological change.
Psychotherapy is an exploration you and I will chart out together that will span the past and the present. We’ll look into your internal world as well as the relationships and social systems you have been a part of your whole life. Collaboratively, we’ll identify and nourish parts of yourself that are needing attention and care. In my experience, when these parts are given what they are needing, symptoms of distress begin to melt away and new ways of being with self and others are given space to take hold.
The therapeutic relationship that develops between patient and therapist is unlike any other. It will be our most valuable tool - it is a magnifying glass, an excavator, a container, a digester. The relationship is uninhibited by social norms, confidential, and focused on you. It is through this relationship characterized by curiosity, non-judgement, and attunement that your authentic self is given space to emerge, be nurtured, and grow.
I am licensed to work with people residing in California. I primarily work in-person, though I do see patients via telehealth on a case by case or as needed basis.
I am affiliated with the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis, the Northern California Society for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, A Home Within, the Community Mental Health Program at the California Institute for Integral Studies, and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
